This DIN rail based OEM control system deve-
loped according to EN 50126, 50128 and
50129 is used for centralized or decentralized
control in a mobile environment. As an open
system it gives the user the possibility to con-
fi gure his own inexpensive solution through
a standardized user interface (IEC61131) and
modular hardware based on CANopen (safety
CAN) as the system bus. It works in an ambient
operation temperature between -40 to +85°C
and the electronic boards inside have conformal
coating to protect them from condensa tion.
The housing is HF-tight and resistant to sol-
vents (IP40). The individual modules are simply
snapped onto mounting rails to form function
blocks. They feature plug-and-play functionali-
ty and can be hot-plugged during operation.
The peripherals are either connected through
cage clamp terminals or screw terminals.

All modules have their own self-diagnosis.
Continuous tests during operation allow for
error recognition independent of the switch
state. Error messages are clearly displayed in
plain language and all messages and events
are permanently stored with a time stamp
(black box).

The 3U 8HP power supply unit is a plug-
in device for 19“ systems (e.g. VMEbus,
CompactPCI
®
) and is especially designed for
computer systems in trains or public trans-
port vehicles, being fully compliant with
EN 50155:

Conformal coating
It is controlled by a microprocessor which
supervises the voltage and the temperature,
as well as three external inputs and three
outputs.
Thanks to the on-board intelligence the PSU
can also act as an SMBus slave and commu-
nicate with the CPU board via the backplane.
This allows the PSU to power-on the system
at a programmed date or it allows the CPU
to make status polls with regard to error
messages, time-out, on/off, for example.
